GBFF National Championships 2007
Word from the Nationals Sponsor - Wishart International
"We as a company became involved with Floorball this year through our sponsorship of the Glenrothes Grrrowl Floorball Club and I personally have started to take a keen interest in the sport. I am highly impressed with the commitment shown by those involved with the sport locally and can only see it going from strength to strength in the future. We are therefore delighted to sponsor the GBFF National Championships 2007, and expect it to be a marvelous event. I'd like to wish all the teams involved the very best of luck."

12 teams will play in the National Championships in Perth
The draw has been made and 12 teams have been split into the following groups: Group 1: Cotswold Cobras, Dundee Northern Lights, Balwearie Lightning and Campden Dragons Group 2: Glenrothes Grrrowl, Balwearie Thunder, Brighton Rock, and Crusaders Group 3: Bath Blaze, Chapel, RBS Linlithgow, and Aberdeen Oilers Group 2 appears to be the group of death. The Scottish teams will do well to qualify from this section. The top two will qualify along with the two best 3rd place teams for the National Finals. The rest of the teams will then participate in the Plate Final. Click here to access a Microsoft Word file containing useful information for your stay in Perth. British Finals 2005/6 Only three Scottish teams travelled : Chapel (including 2 Glenrothes guest players), Balwearie Thunder (included 3 Glenrothes players) and Balwearie Bees. All Scottish teams found the competition very strong and suffered from early defeats. Bees lost narrowly to Grantham who they were to later beat in the consolation Plate Final. In their other games against Chapel and Cotswold they were well beaten. Chapel got off to a bad start by losing to Cotswold. Although they qualified they were to find the stronger top southern teams too difficult on the day and did not get as high a placing as they would have liked. Balwearie Thunder had a mixed event with some good performances but they again could have achieved more with a bit more luck.

British Finals 2004/5 It was a great experience at the finals for Balwearie and a few shocks on the way. We at Balwearie came within a few seconds of an opening win that would have put us into at least a 5/6th play-off, and just missed a second chance to actually get to the semi-finals in our defeat 2-4 by Glenrothes, a draw or victory would have seen us make the semi-finals. A great experience though. Glenrothes perhaps did not show what they were capable of but still made the semi-finals, but I'm sure they will learn from the experience and come back stronger next year. On their day they can play with the best.
Above: Chapel in the 2-2 draw with Cotswold (picture thanks to Peter Heggie) Biggest shock was Chapel's gritty 1-0 win against the mighty Vikings. The first defeat of the season for the Vikings left them to secure 3rd spot against Glenrothes. Chapel though lost Ross for the final due to his dislocated toe/s. His influence on the rink would have ensured a close final, although Chapel should feel reasonably happy with their 1-4 loss to Costwold in the final. Cotswold were a solid team on the day, but with Ross on the rink the final would have been a bit closer and might have swung the other way as the 2-2 draw between the teams showed earlier in their group meeting. Indeed Cotswold got the equaliser with only 3 seconds left in that game. Chapel with all the northern teams supporting them did Scotland proud and it was a case of if only!
